Yesterday my kids had a lockdown drill at school. No big deal, I remember having them in high school. Never mind the 4 year old thought it was real, that real bad guys were in his school. This morning he drew a picture of our house with a bow and arrow inside of it, to fight off the bad guys. Not exactly the kind of breakfast conversation I ever expected to have with my children. Why do people want my children, our children, to live with this daily fear? Kids already fear monsters under the bed, parents dying, and now we fear school, and the world at large? Why do we want that? Can you explain it?
